Short description
Marcello, a small and gentle dog groomer, finds himself involved in a dangerous relationship of subjugation with Simone, a former violent boxer who terrorizes the entire neighborhood. In an effort to reaffirm his dignity, Marcello will submit to an unexpected act of vengeance.
What's left behind the scenes
- The yellow telephone in the hotel room is a famous Yugoslavian ETA 80 model produced by Istra Co in 1980.
- Director Matteo Garrone made Marcello Fonte drink whiskey before filming some scenes to help him get into character.
- The plot of the film is based on real events from 1988, when 27-year-old owner of a small dog grooming salon named Pietro de Negri brutally tortured and then killed former amateur boxer Giancarlo Ricchi. De Negri later confessed to the murder.
