What's left behind the scenes
- François Truffaut (1932-1984) raised the money for the film's production, initially intending to direct it himself. However, Eric Rohmer (1920-2010) ultimately directed it. Rohmer wanted to shoot around Christmas time, but Jean-Louis Trintignant (1930-2022) was unavailable, and the start of filming had to be postponed for almost a year.
