• Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Alex Pettyfer, Joel Edgerton, Taylor Kitsch, Kellan Lutz, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Luke Evans, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Benjamin Walker, and Aaron Eckhart were considered for the lead role.
• Matt Damon turned down the role of Jason Bourne because he did not want to star in a film without the involvement of Paul Greengrass (director of 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum'), so the screenwriters created a new protagonist.
• Jeremy Renner's fee for playing the lead role in this film is $5,000,000, which is much less than Matt Damon’s ('The Bourne Identity' – $10,000,000, 'The Bourne Supremacy' – $10,000,000, 'The Bourne Ultimatum' – $20,000,000).
• Before the film was seriously considered for production, director Paul Greengrass jokingly suggested naming the fourth Bourne film "Bourne Excess."
