What's left behind the scenes

  • All the spells used in the film are taken from the tabletop game "Dungeons & Dragons".
  • Regé-Jean Page himself came up with the scene in which his character steps over a stone without faltering.
  • Chris Pine agreed to the role of Edgin Darvis because this character is extremely atypical for the lead role in the fantasy genre, and because he once looked after his nephew while he played with friends in "Dungeons & Dragons" and saw how much enjoyment the game brought them.
  • Director and screenwriter Jonathan M. Goldstein said that the filmmakers wanted to make a comedy, but at the same time did not want to present the source material with mockery or ridicule.
  • Actor Clayton Grover plays a large bipedal, bird-like creature with a head created using animatronics in a costume from the special effects studio "Legacy Effects." Grover is a stuntman by profession, and he really liked the mechanisms he received for the role. In particular, the wings, which reached a width of almost 4 meters when unfolded. The wings consisted of artificial feathers connected to a device under the actor's clothing. In addition, Grover walked on stilts with claws, which added almost half a meter to his height, and wore gloves with claws. His character's face was radio-controlled and animatronic and was located above the actor's head, while he could peek out between the feathers in the neck area of the costume. In the costume, the actor's height exceeded 2 meters.
  • The film was shot in the same locations where the Harry Potter films were once filmed. For example, viewers can easily recognize some of the Hogwarts rooms.
  • The appearance of the creature played by Brian Larkin included a complex head with a face, moving claws on his hands and feet, and a tail. Considering that this character had to speak a lot, a complex facial motion capture system was created at "Legacy Effects."
