What's left behind the scenes
- The original title of the film can be translated as “Hereditary.”
- The trailer for the film was mistakenly shown in Australia during a screening of the children’s film “Peter Rabbit” (Will Gluck, 2018).
- In the scene where his character hits his head on the table, actor Alex Wolff intended to hit himself in such a way as to break his nose, but director Ari Aster rejected this idea and told Wolff that the surface of the table would be soft. For some reason, the table on set turned out to be real, and Alex Wolff actually broke his nose upon impact.
- A mixture of Hebrew and Enochian is used during the ritual. The latter was created by mathematician, geographer, astronomer, alchemist, and astrologer John Dee (1527-1609) for magical purposes during spiritualist sessions in the late 16th century.
- The original title of the film can be translated as "Hereditary".
