The entire film was shot in New York City between October 20 and December 15, 2017. Director Peter Segal wanted Manhattan itself to be a full-fledged character in his film.
On her Facebook page, Maya sees a photo of herself with the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and First Lady Michelle Obama. This is a genuine photograph from the inauguration ball for Obama in January 2009, which Jennifer Lopez attended.
Initially, Julia Roberts was cast in the role of Maya, which was eventually played by Jennifer Lopez.
Filming began in New York on October 23, 2017, and wrapped on December 16, 2017.
