- The original title of the film translates to "I am Mother".
- Mother's costume weighs approximately 40 kg.
- Pre-production began in May 2017, and filming started in the first half of October and continued for seven weeks, after which the crew moved to New Zealand for three days of exterior shooting. The black sands of Karekare Beach and the landscapes of Karaka Island became the main locations.
- Grant Spiewtor and Michael Lloyd Green worked on the film's script while in different parts of the world – Australia and Los Angeles. The plot was developed starting in 2015.
