The role of Lydia Deetz could also have gone to Liv Tyler and Claire Danes.
Famous British guitarist and singer James Morrison was offered the role of Louis Connelly, but he declined, deciding to focus on his musical career.
Robin Williams himself stated that the main inspiration for his role as the Wizard was U2 frontman Bono.
With the exception of the track “Dueling guitars,” all of the guitar playing performed in place of the main character was actually done by American guitarist Kaki King. It is her hands that appear on screen in most of these scenes.
