Short description
When an Egyptian terrorism suspect "disappears" on a flight from Africa to Washington DC, his American wife and a CIA analyst find themselves caught up in a struggle to secure his release from a secret detention facility somewhere outside the US.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the events in the life of Khaled al-Masri, a German citizen of Arab origin. Based on suspicions of involvement in the 2001 attack on the Twin Towers in New York, he was kidnapped by Macedonian police in 2004, handed over to the CIA, and placed in a secret prison in Afghanistan. There, al-Masri was subjected to humiliation and torture for five months before being released, having been declared innocent.
