• The film is dedicated to the memory of Frank Grillo's mother, who passed away in 2019.
• Joe Carnahan tried to make this film for many years. In 2010, the future film was titled “Continue,” and the screenplay was written by Chris and Eddie Borry. Carnahan rewrote the script and announced that he would be filming the movie for 20th Century Fox. He even shot several test scenes with Frank Grillo, but the studio abandoned the project, allegedly due to Carnahan’s decision to cast Grillo in the lead role. Carnahan later posted the filmed scenes on Twitter.
• The film takes place on the same repeating day, May 9th. This is Carnahan's birthday.
• During the filming of an action scene, Mel Gibson accidentally hit Frank Grillo in the face with such force that it dislocated his jaw. Grillo didn't tell anyone to avoid interrupting the filming process, and his jaw wasn't reset for 8 hours after the impact.
• Joe Carnahan specifically rewrote the script "for" Frank Grillo.
