What's left behind the scenes

  • The character of Hu Li, played by Zhang Ziyi, was originally intended to be male.
  • The scene in which Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan run naked through the streets of Hong Kong is a real shoot; the film crew did not have the opportunity to block traffic on the street.
  • Don Cheadle, who plays Kenny, agreed to star in the film only if he would fight Jackie Chan and speak Chinese.
  • Hu Li, translated from one of the Chinese dialects, means 'Fox'.
  • When Chris Tucker says that Asians always panic, referencing the Godzilla movie, he shouts: 'Hyaku! Hyaku!', which translates from Japanese as 'Faster! Faster!'
  • During the filming of the movie, Zhang Ziyi did not speak English, and Jackie Chan had to act as a translator.
