What's left behind the scenes

  • The film "Control" had to be shot at night, between 11:30 PM and 4:30 AM, when trains don't run. In addition, a lot of time was spent obtaining permission. In all the instances the film crew contacted, they were told that they would never be allowed to film a movie in which ticket inspectors are depicted as a gang of idiots. Eventually, the film's producer Tamas Hutlassa and Nimrod Antal met with the director of the Budapest Transport Company, Botond Abay, whom they convinced to allow filming. The film is preceded by a recorded address from Botond Abay, in which he states that the characters in the film have nothing to do with real Budapest subway inspectors.
  • The character of Zsolt Nagy (Tibi) accidentally hits his head against a column in one scene. This was not in the script, but Antal liked it and left the take in the film.
  • Zabor Herendi, who plays the paramedic collecting the remnants of a person from the tracks, is a well-known Hungarian film director.
  • This is the first Hungarian film selected for the official program at the Cannes Film Festival after a twenty-year break.
  • Zábor Pirósh, a well-known Hungarian stuntman, left the set of 'Terminator 3' for two days to help Antal on the set of 'Kontroll'.
  • At the end of the 'chase' between Bulcsú and Gonzo, when the latter is almost hit by a train, stuntmen were used. No visual effects were used in this scene.
  • Some of the vocal effects in the music during the end credits were performed by the director himself.
  • In two places in the film, a mechanical voice can be heard in the background saying (in English) 'The next stop is: Concourse A... the color coded maps and signs in this vehicle match the station colors... please move to the center of the vehicle and away from the doors.' These are phrases spoken by a robot on the free underground train at Atlanta airport (until 1994).
