- Initially, Steven Spielberg was going to direct the film, but when Bradley Cooper showed him an early version of his melodrama “A Star is Born,” Spielberg told him that Cooper should direct “Maestro” himself.
- Bradley Cooper wore a prosthetic nose for the role, which led to complaints from the Anti-Defamation League and accusations of antisemitism. Bernstein's children defended the actor, calling the accusations hypocritical.
