• Margot Robbie's character is the only one not based on a real person. This character was created specifically for the film.
• The scene in which real-life actor John Lithgow asks fictional character Margot Robbie to lift her skirt was filmed with numerous cameras from every possible angle. Director Jay Roach did not want Robbie to have to reshoot the scene repeatedly.
• To work on the film, Charlize Theron personally persuaded makeup artist Katsuhiro, who had already retired, to temporarily return to the profession. He received his second Academy Award for his work on this film. He received his first for his work on Joe Wright's drama "Darkest Hour" (2017), where he did makeup for Gary Oldman's role as Winston Churchill (1874-1965).
