- Preparing for the role of Zola, actress Taylor Paige, born in Inglewood, California, worked as a stripper in California for a month and actually performed nude in public. According to her, this helped her get into the role, and it was also a useful additional source of income.
- The film ends with the character played by Colman Domingo remaining free and facing no consequences for his illegal activities. In reality, the man on whom this character was based was arrested with Zola's documents. He attempted to involve two other girls in prostitution in the same way, raped one of them, and is currently serving time in prison.
