Short description
Wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife and sentenced to death, Richard Kimble escapes from the law in an attempt to find the real killer and clear his name.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The role of Sam Gerard was offered to John Voight and Gene Hackman.
  • Filming of the movie began even before the script was finished.
  • Harrison Ford received the lead role after Alec Baldwin turned it down.
  • Pat Proft filmed a parody comedy, "Guilty Without Fault" (1998), based on this film.
  • In the dialogue scene in the sewer before the jump into the water, Ford's character says he didn't kill his wife. To which Jones' character replies: "I don't care." This phrase was improvised by Tommy Lee Jones. He wanted to demonstrate the exceptional impartiality of his character, for whom what the fugitive did is unimportant, only his capture matters.
  • In the 8th episode of the 3rd season of the series "Scrubs", the main character, J.D., watches the film "The Fugitive". In one scene, he notices actor Neil Flynn in the role of a police officer in the subway (who plays a janitor in the series). J.D. tells the janitor this news, and he admits that he did indeed appear in the film.
