• Christopher Lee (1922-2015), who played Dracula, and Herbert Lom (1917-2012), who played Van Helsing, never met on set; they filmed all their scenes separately.
• It is said that Christopher Lee was already tired of playing Count Dracula, and he only agreed to appear in this film because he was promised a highly accurate adaptation of Bram Stoker's (1849-1912) novel (1897). Be that as it may, the adaptation contains significant deviations from the literary source material, although, according to director Jesus Franco (1930-2013), he and Lee remained friends for many years afterward.
