What's left behind the scenes

  • In the drama, Agatha Christie (1890-1976) uses the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. Agatha Christie wrote six books under this pseudonym between 1930 and 1956 – “Giant’s Bread” (1930), “Unfinished Portrait” (1934), “Parting at Forks” (1944), “The Rose and the Yew Tree” (1948), “Good Intentions” (1952), and “Nemesis” (1956).
  • Agatha reads to Rosalind "R.U.R.," a play written by Karel Čapek (1890-1938) in 1920, in which he first used the word "robot."
  • Florence Nightingale Shaw did indeed exist and was indeed killed on a train traveling from London to East Sussex in 1920. It is possible that her lover, Mabel Rogers, did ask Agatha Christie to investigate this murder. Subsequently, Agatha Christie wrote the book 'The Man in the Brown Suit,' in which the main suspect in Shaw's murder, a man in a brown suit, was seen exiting the carriage where Shaw was.
