Filming took place in London, South Wales, and on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Hayley Atwell, Georgina Haig, Janet Montgomery, Dominique McElligott, and Clemence Poésy were considered for the role of Andromeda.

Initially, Gemma Arterton was supposed to join the cast and reprise her role from 'Clash of the Titans' (Louis Leterrier, 2010), but this was prevented by a commitment to film with Tommy Wirkola in the fantasy action film 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' (2012). In the case of Andromeda, it was decided to change the actress (in the first film this character was played by Alexa Davalos, and in the second by Rosamund Pike), while Io, Arterton's character from the first film, was completely removed from the script.
The sound made by the Minotaur is actually the sound made by elephants. This same sound was present in the 1997 animated film 'Hercules'.
Work on a sequel titled 'Wrath of the Titans' had begun, but the idea was abandoned due to the film's box office failure.
