What's left behind the scenes
- Aquaman wears a blue camouflage suit that gives him the octopus-like ability to change color. This suit first appeared in Aquaman comics in 1986.
- Former DC Films President Walter Hamada wanted Michael Keaton's Batman to be similar to Nick Fury and appear in a variety of films, including “Batgirl” (directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah), “The Flash” (Andrés Muschietti, 2023), and this film. The shooting schedule changed due to reshoots, and this film was released after “The Flash,” so Keaton’s cameo was reshot with Ben Affleck, but even that was cut, meaning Batman did not appear in this film.
- The visual effects required the invention of new technology and equipment for shooting underwater scenes – 100 cameras captured the actors’ performances and action scenes and overlaid them onto 3D images of the actors. These tricks were necessary because director James Wan decided that the equipment used in the first 2018 film was too complex and something simpler needed to be devised.
- The idea for a sequel was proposed by Jason Momoa.
- Due to Willem Dafoe’s commitments, he did not appear in this film in his previous role, and Nicole Kidman’s character served as the advisor instead.
