• Some scenes were secretly filmed in Tehran. The government of that country would never have allowed filming by an Israeli director, so Yuval Adler hired a German film company, which in turn used the services of a French film company, and that company organized the filming in Tehran without informing any of the locals what the film was about.
• After reading the bestseller that served as the literary basis for the screenplay, Diane Kruger found out who owned the film rights and expressed a desire to star in the future adaptation. Kruger is German by nationality, who moved to France and then to the United States, so the situation of the film's main character was familiar and close to her.
