Short description
A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen's classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.
What's left behind the scenes
- Natalie Portman was initially considered for the role of Elizabeth Bennet, but the actress was unable to film due to commitments to other projects. Before the role was given to Lily James, the filmmakers considered Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, Rooney Mara, Mila Kunis, and Blake Lively. Natalie Portman remained on the project as a producer.
- During filming, Matt Smith made unambiguous advances towards his co-star, Lily James.
- Lily Collins was offered the role of Elizabeth Bennet, but she declined it.
- Lena Headey and Charles Dance played members of House Lannister in the series "Game of Thrones" (2011).
- Initially, David O. Russell was slated to direct the film, but he was unable to participate in the project due to a busy schedule.
- Bella Heathcote and Lily James, who played the older Bennett sisters, auditioned for the lead role in "Cinderella" (2015). The filmmakers chose Lily James.

- Matt Smith and Lena Headey both appeared in the "Terminator" franchise. Headey played Sarah Connor in the series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (2008), while Smith played Alex in the film "Terminator Genisys" (2015).
