What's left behind the scenes

  • In a flashback, Laura Lee dances to Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing" (1981-2011) from their 1990 album "Goo." The film itself owes its title to the band's fifth studio album, "Daydream Nation" (1988). One of the central characters in the film is named Thurston – likely in honor of the band's vocalist and guitarist Thurston Moore.
  • During one scene, "Carmensita" by American singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart can be heard. Cat Danning, who plays a role in the film, appeared in Banhart's music video for this song.
