Short description
Seven years since the Monsterpocalypse began, Joel Dawson has been living underground in order to survive. But after reconnecting over radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee, Joel decides to venture out to reunite with her, despite all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way.
What's left behind the scenes
- The dog named Boy was played by two Australian Kelpies – Hiro and Dodge. Only the actor playing Joel, Dylan O'Brien, was allowed to interact with them during filming. When Ariana Greenblatt filmed scenes with them, O'Brien took the day off and didn't appear on set at all.
- Joel wears a palm tree t-shirt, identical to the one worn by Ellie in the 2013 computer game The Last of Us. The game’s plot unfolds in a post-apocalyptic future on the territory of the former United States, and the main character is also named Joel.
