Short description
A luxury condo manager leads a staff of workers to seek payback on the Wall Street swindler who defrauded them. With only days until the billionaire gets away with the perfect crime, the unlikely crew of amateur thieves enlists the help of petty crook Slide to steal the $20 million they’re sure is hidden in the penthouse.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The producers hired Jeff Star, a professional locksmith from New Jersey and an eight-time winner of the international safe-cracking championship. He advised the prop department during the creation of the safe mock-up and Gabourey Sidibe before filming the scene where her character cracks the safe.
  • Three specially hired linguists worked with actress Gabourey Sidibe to develop the accent characteristic of people from Jamaica.
  • Filming took place in the summer, so artificial snow was used in the scene with Slide on the roof.
  • The film features over 500 special effects.
  • The Ferrari Lusso repeatedly shown in the film is actually a converted Volvo 1800.
  • The Ferrari and the parade in the film are a reference to John Hughes's comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986), in which Matthew Broderick also starred. (In "How to Steal a Skylight" he plays Mr. Fitzhugh.)
  • The "Tower" is portrayed by the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Manhattan.
  • The Ferrari and parade in the film are a reference to John Hughes' comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986), in which Matthew Broderick also starred. (In "Tower Heist" he plays the role of Mr. Fitzhugh.)
  • The "Tower" is portrayed by the international hotel and Donald Trump's tower in Manhattan.
