Filming took place in the Moscow region, Crimea, the Tver and Kaluga regions, and Saint Petersburg.
Some of the filming was done at the "Voenfilm" Film Studio (Medyn, Kaluga region), which houses the largest collection of armored vehicles in Europe, both Soviet and German, from World War II.
Scenes with locomotives were filmed in the Shushary settlement near Saint Petersburg. Additionally, a large number of locomotives were used at the Podmoskovnaya station's Locomotive Depot during the filming of scenes at the Matai station (KAZHD), where Kalashnikov began working on his first submachine gun. Another location was the Apraksin Estate in the village of Olgovo, Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region.
All weapon models designed by Kalashnikov were specifically restored based on blueprints obtained from the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering Forces, and Signal Corps in St. Petersburg.
