Short description
In a dystopian near-future America, fifty teenage boys take part in a deadly annual walking contest, forced to maintain a minimum pace or be executed, until only one survivor remains.
What's left behind the scenes
- In 1988, George Romero first attempted to adapt Stephen King's novel for the screen, and in 2007, Frank Darabont acquired the rights to a film adaptation of the book. In 2019, director André Øvredal and screenwriter James Vanderbilt joined the efforts to adapt the book. In November 2023, Øvredal stepped down from the project, and Francis Lawrence was appointed as the new director.
- Filming took place in Manitoba from July 24 to September 12, 2024.
