Short description
A chronicle of Babe Ruth's phenomenal story--from his hard knock beginnings at a Baltimore orphanage, to his meteoric rise to baseball superstardom and his poignant retirement from the game. His amazing career included seven American League pennants, four World Series championships, two tempestuous marriages and a wild lifestyle that earned him numerous suspensions.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film depicts Babe Ruth as being overweight from a young age. In reality, he gained weight only in adulthood, when he began to earn well and enjoy the fruits of his success. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he lost weight again.
- Some scenes were filmed at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union County, Illinois, where a 2-10-0 "Decapod" type museum locomotive and a tourist open car were used.
