• The doll named Lester, mentioned by Emma Roberts' character and briefly seen in her home, is a reference to ventriloquist Willie Tyler's Lester doll. The doll was hugely popular in the 1970s and 1980s and was sold in retail chains such as Sears.
• In the days following the film's release on Netflix, in a scene from a Halloween party, one of the characters, dressed as a black cat and calling himself Black Panther, said a few words mentioning Chadwick Boseman. Boseman died in August, shortly before the film's release in October 2020. Soon these remarks were either removed or new ones were recorded over them.
• In the morning, Emma Roberts' character covers her face with a sheet so that Luke Bracey's character doesn't try to kiss her. According to the actress, she can't stand watching characters in movies kiss right after waking up, it's “gross and sucks.” The actress's aunt, Julia Roberts, says the same thing in Joe Roth's romantic comedy “America's Sweethearts” (2001).
