What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on Stephen King's novel «Dreamcatcher» (2001).
  • In the book, Morgan Freeman’s character is named Kurz, but in the film, his last name was changed to Curtis so that viewers would not perceive this character as a reference to Brando’s hero in «Apocalypse Now».
  • The actor who played Henry (Thomas Jane) admitted that he agreed to the role for the sake of his mother — a big fan of King.
  • Filming of the movie began on January 13, 2002, in Prince George, British Columbia.
  • The film takes place in Maine, as do most of King's stories.
  • Stephen King was writing the novel “Dreamcatcher” while undergoing rehabilitation: the writer was hit by a car while on a walk. The episode at the beginning of the film, where the hero is hit by a car, is a reflection of the real accident that happened to Stephen King himself.
  • Damian Lewis, who played Junsi, stated that when creating the image of Mr. Gray, who inhabited Junsi, he was inspired by the performance of Malcolm McDowell.
  • The film is based on Stephen King’s novel "Dreamcatcher" (2001).
