- Mel Gibson replaced Bruce Willis in the role of Ray.
- Cardillo (played by Emile Hirsch), having lost a loved one, contemplates suicide and several times holds a gun to his head. Thus, the beginning of the film mirrors a similar opening in the action film "Lethal Weapon" (1987) by Shane Black and Jeffrey Baum, where Martin Riggs, played by Mel Gibson, mourns his deceased wife and similarly attempts to take his own life.
- Frank and Jess (played by Emile Hirsch and Stephanie Kay, respectively) first enter the building soaking wet, but their clothes are shown completely dry inside. This inconsistency is repeated throughout the film – the characters regularly find themselves in heavy rain, but their clothes remain consistently dry.
