Short description

Jamie New is 16 and doesn’t quite fit in—instead of pursuing a "real" career he dreams of becoming a drag queen. Uncertain about his future, Jamie knows one thing for sure: he is going to be a sensation. Supported by his loving mom and his amazing friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

To prepare for the role, Richard E. Grant rewatched 11 seasons of the drag queen competition reality show "RuPaul's Drag Race" (2009-) in three weeks.
All members of the cast perform their own singing.
The film is based on the true story of Jamie Campbell. He plays a transvestite who opens the door of the club during the performance of the song “Don't Even Know It”.
