Short description
A woman is released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past.
What's left behind the scenes
- The intention to film this movie was first announced in 2010. Producer Graham King greatly desired Angelina Jolie for the lead role and hired screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie to write a script specifically for her. Jolie never officially agreed to participate in the project, and in the following years, the film went through several screenwriters and directors before the project stalled completely. The project was revived only in 2019.
- In the state of Washington, children under the age of 8 are not subject to criminal prosecution. Katie was 5 years old at the time of the shooting, so even if Ruth hadn't taken the blame, she wouldn't have been charged.
