Short description

Two men in 1930s Mississippi become friends after being sentenced to life in prison together for a crime they did not commit.

What's left behind the scenes

Despite the film being set in Mississippi, it was filmed in California.
Rick James (1948-2004) didn't act out his limp; the scene was filmed after the actor had hip replacement surgery.
When Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence stand on a box of liquor bottles, Claude, played by Lawrence, says his toe got stuck in a bottle. This actually happened during the filming of one of the takes, and Murphy's laughter here is completely genuine, not acted.
