- Between the first mention of the film idea in 1997 and its release in 2021, the project went through many stages. During this period, numerous film companies and directors expressed interest in working on the film, including "Paramount Pictures", Luc Besson (in 2000 he considered filming with Gérard Depardieu and Isabelle Adjani), Christophe Barratier, Olivier Daán, and Ridley Scott. Only novice producer Vanessa van Schaule brought the idea to practical realization, with Martin Bourboulon as the director.
