Short description
In the near future, big wars are avoided by giving individuals with violent tendencies a chance to kill in the Big Hunt. The Hunt is the most popular form of entertainment in the world and also attracts participants who are looking for fame and fortune. It includes ten rounds for each competitor, five as the hunter and five as the victim.
What's left behind the scenes
- Ursula Andress was cast in the role only after Ann-Margret turned it down due to commitments to other projects.
- Producer Carlo Ponti (1912-2007) disliked science fiction and only agreed to work on this film because he wanted to collaborate with Marcello Mastroianni (1924-1996). Ponti went against director Elio Petri (1929-1982) and added some comedic touches to the script, as well as forced Petri to change the frankly bleak ending.
