Short description
A film screener at the BBFC, who has earned an unsavory reputation for being the strictest censor of violent films, begins to spiral out of control after viewing a low budget horror movie with similarities to the disappearance of her sister.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Director and screenwriter Prano Bailey-Bond recounted in an interview that the idea for the film first came to her around 2012, when she was reading an article about Hammer Horror. This British studio, founded in 1934, gained prominence for producing horror films, including such titles as 'Dracula,' 'The Mummy,' and 'The Curse of the Werewolf' by Terence Fisher (1958, 1959, and 1961, respectively).
  • Due to a flaw in British legislation regulating mass media before the adoption of the new Act in 1984 (when the British Board of Film Censors was renamed the British Board of Film Classification), films released on videotapes did not require classification or censorship. This led to a market flooded with films that provoked strong negative reactions from various segments of the audience. After September 1, 1985, films released on videotapes had to meet the requirements of the Act and be approved by the British Board of Film Classification.
