• Mads Mikkelsen grew his beard in just two months. Gaining muscle mass proved more difficult. He gained only a little over 6 kilograms with a height of 1 meter 82 centimeters.
• Mads Mikkelsen actually tried to break a bathroom mirror with his head. The idea was his own, and he personally convinced the director and insurance inspectors to let him try. The stunt coordinator personally applied a special film to the mirror to prevent the glass from shattering into pieces and injuring the actor, however, there was a concrete wall directly behind the mirror. Mikkelsen later recounted that he hoped to manage this scene in four takes, but gave up after the second and started punching the mirror. He landed only a couple of blows on it, and then switched to searching for other objects he could hit with all his might.
