Short description
Lady Alyce Marshmorton must marry soon, and the staff of Tottney Castle have laid bets on who she'll choose, with young Albert wagering on 'Mr. X'. After Alyce goes to London to meet a beau she is restricted to the castle to curb her scandalous behavior. Albert then summons Jerry to Alyce's aid in order to 'protect his investment'.

What's left behind the scenes

  • George Burns (1896-1996) hired a choreographer acquaintance, who staged a broom dance for him and Gracie Allen (1895-1964). Fred Astaire (1899-1987) liked the Burns and Allen dance so much that he insisted it be included in the film.
  • When Astaire learned that Gracie Allen was very worried and anxious about having to dance with him on camera, he allegedly deliberately tripped and stretched out on the floor in front of her, hoping it would help her relax and feel more comfortable.
