What's left behind the scenes

  • A certain part of the plot is inspired by the television series “Beast Wars: Transformers” (1996), which features Maximals and Predacons, descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, who can transform into various animals and creatures.
  • The film owes a significant portion of its computer animation to MPC, rather than ILM, as was the case with previous films in the franchise. It is claimed that the company rushed to finish the work on time, which led to the need to cut many scenes (including the entire storyline of the Decepticon named Transit, who transformed into a bus to hide from Optimus Prime) and change others. Seven months before the film's release, in November 2022, Weta Digital was brought in to help MPC, otherwise it would have been simply impossible to meet the deadline. It was Weta Digital specialists who completely redid almost the entire final battle. Many initially made and unfinished scenes remained only in the trailers. The scene on the homeworld of the Maximals, with which the film begins, was also added by Weta Digital, and the character named Airlink was invented at the very last moment. In an anonymous letter to fans of the franchise, MPC animators apologized for the unsatisfactory level of computer graphics and admitted that the project was entrusted to MPC only because it was cheaper than contacting ILM.
  • Unlike most previous 'Transformers' films, it was not originally intended for the robots to match in size the vehicles they transform into. According to one of the Weta Digital animators, the truck that Optimus Prime transforms into is four times larger than himself in robot form. This means that when transforming into robot form, he shrinks significantly in size. Other details do not align between vehicle and robot modes either. When Bumblebee transforms into a 'Camaro', his robot body remains the same, and lacks some of the vehicle's characteristic features (which appear and disappear during the transition between forms). In particular, his wheels in robot form are different from the wheels visible when he is in vehicle form. According to one of the computer graphics artists, the animators were aware of these inconsistencies, but the film’s producers were not interested in the details and nuances of Bumblebee’s similarity in robot and vehicle modes.
