What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, Anne Hathaway was considered for the role of Miss Trunchbull, but she declined to participate in the project due to COVID restrictions, and it was then decided to find a British actress.
- Mara Wilson, who played the title role in Danny DeVito's 1996 comedy, turned down an offer to play a cameo, stating that she did not want to travel all the way to England for just one day of filming. Pam Ferris also declined a cameo role, reportedly due to rehearsals for a theatrical production.
