What's left behind the scenes
- Tom Cruise was considered for the role that ultimately went to Idris Elba.
- The voice of the computer was provided by Ellen McLain, who also voiced the character GLaDOS in the computer games Portal and Portal 2.
- The first film by Guillermo del Toro featuring Ron Perlman in a human role (after the film 'Chronos,' 1993).
- The idea for the screenplay came to Travis Beacham while walking along the California coast on a foggy morning. The pier appeared to him as a creature rising from the water, and the screenwriter imagined a large robot waiting on the shore to fight it.
- While making the film, Guillermo del Toro drew inspiration from the anime and tokusatsu of his youth. Despite this, he wanted to avoid references to other works of fiction in terms of the design of the robots and monsters. Del Toro was also strongly impressed by Francisco Goya's 'The Colossus' and Hokusai's 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa.'
- "Jaeger" translates from German as "hunter".
- "Kaiju" is a Japanese word that literally translates to "strange beast." It is commonly used to denote giant monsters in Japanese science fiction films, such as those featuring Godzilla.
- A full-scale robot cockpit was built at Pinewood Studios in Toronto. It weighed approximately 20 tons and was about four stories tall. It was constructed on a massive hydraulic rig that moved, shook, and vibrated as if it were actually controlling a robot. A smaller, gimbaled version was also built to allow for a range of movements. The visual effects team used some footage from this cockpit to reference during the creation of the robot animation. And to depict the interior of each robot differently, the set dressing was completely changed.
- The Gipsy Danger robot was painted and detailed to resemble a World War II fighter plane in appearance.
- The film was sent to theaters under the title "Still Seas".
- Filming began on November 14, 2011, in Toronto and continued until April 2012. The film was shot using RED Epic cameras.

- When the "Rogue One" spaceship falls from space to Earth, it is raining. It's visible when showing the army, but when the "Rogue One" lands, the rain is gone. Throughout this scene, the rain appears and disappears.
- When the Rogue One arrives to help the civilian ship at the beginning of the film (at the 11th minute), he rises from the water to his full height. In this situation, the water is up to his chest, but he approaches unnoticed. Even if he crawled along the bottom (which robots cannot do), he wouldn't have been able to approach unnoticed.
- Geographical error: In the film, the Cape Verde islands, which were attacked by the third Kaiju, are located in the Atlantic Ocean near the coast of Morocco.
