Jennifer Lawrence, Dianna Agron, Imogen Poots, and Felicity Jones were contenders for the role of Alice.
Alex Pettyfer, Shiloh Fernandez, Sam Claflin, Caleb Landry Jones, and James Frescaville were considered for the role of Tom Ward.
Filming began on March 19, 2012, in Vancouver.
"Seventh Son" is based on the children's novel "The Spook's Apprentice" by Joseph Delaney.
The initial release date for the film was set for February 22, 2013. Since then, the premiere has been repeatedly postponed due to lengthy post-production and a falling out between the studios Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. As a result, the new distributor of the film, Universal Studios, moved the premiere to 2015.
