The main character, played by Milla Jovovich, addresses Dr. H. Langenkamp (played by Marianne Faithfull). The doctor's name is a reference to Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy in Wes Craven's horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984). When the main character picks up a newspaper with an article about the latest victim, she sees a photo of Lisa Wilcox, who starred in the horror films "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" (1988) by Renny Harlin and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child" (1989) by Stephen Hopkins.
