Short description
The imagined life of one of the world’s most famous authors, Emily Brontë, as she finds her voice and writes the literary classic Wuthering Heights. Explore the relationships that inspired her – her raw, passionate sisterhood with Charlotte and Anne; her first aching, forbidden love for Weightman and her care for her maverick brother whom she idolises.
What's left behind the scenes
- Plans for the film were first announced in May 2020. Joe Alwyn, Finn Whitehead, and Emily Beecham were initially slated to star. Shortly before filming began in April 2021, both Alwyn and Beecham left the project.
- Emily Brontë published her novel 'Wuthering Heights' (1847) under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. Charlotte Brontë published under the pseudonym Currer Bell, and Anne Brontë under the pseudonym Acton Bell. The volume shown towards the end of the film lists Emily Brontë as the author, not Ellis Bell.
