• The filmmakers dreamed that it would be only the first film in the franchise, and the name Ray Sawyer would become as well-known as Jason Voorhees, the psychopathic killer from the "Friday the 13th" franchise, but the film flopped at the box office, and all those hopes were dashed.
• The finale of the last confrontation between the characters played by Agnes Bruckner and Rick Cramer was reshot after audiences at preview screenings were disappointed with the film's resolution. Originally, it was intended to show Agnes Bruckner's character leaving the museum, leaving Cramer's character sealed in the crypt. This was necessary to leave a plot loophole for sequels, as the filmmakers planned to start a new franchise.
