- According to Peter Facinelli, the director, screenwriter, and producer of the film, it was initially planned to shoot in Ohio, but those plans fell through due to the lack of tax incentives. They then decided to film in Selma, Alabama, and only after that did they settle on Tuscaloosa, also in Alabama.
