• Director and screenwriter Tatiana von Fürstenberg copied Fernanda's wardrobe from her own clothes, so actress Rooney Mara even wore her shoes on set. For several days, they both dressed practically identically. Once, they both arrived on set in yellow dresses, thick leggings, and shoes of almost the same color with high heels.
• When Rooney Mara was cast in the film, she still went by Trisha Mara. It was during filming that she began calling herself Rooney Mara, at the suggestion of the crew. For her role as Fernanda, the actress won the "Rising Star" award at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2009.
• Rooney Mara initially auditioned for the supporting role of Lacasta, but her performance impressed director and screenwriter Tatiana von Fürstenberg so much that she asked the young actress to try out for the role of Fernanda and ultimately gave it to her.
• When Rooney Mara was cast in this film, she was still known as Trish Mara. It was at the suggestion of other actors and the creators of 'Tanner Hall' that she adopted the professional pseudonym 'Rooney Mara'.
