Short description
A nature documentary centered on a family of chimps living in the Ivory Coast and Ugandan rain forests.

What's left behind the scenes

  • At the direction of American distributor Disney Nature, twenty cents from each ticket sold during the first week of release went to the Jane Goodall Institute to support its 'See Chimps, Save Chimps' program. This program helps protect chimpanzees and their habitat, and also carries out educational and outreach work among the local population. Following the successful launch of the documentary, the initiative was extended to the second week of release.
  • It took more than four years to film the movie in Tai National Park. This national park is located in the west of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • The film premiered at the large Disneyworld amusement park, located near Orlando, Florida. Directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, as well as primatologist Jane Goodall, who has been studying and protecting chimpanzees in Africa for over 45 years, were specially invited to the screening.
