What's left behind the scenes

  • This film was originally scheduled for release on June 29, 2012. In February, Paramount Pictures launched a large-scale campaign with expensive advertising during the Super Bowl. However, in May 2012, it was announced that the release date was being pushed back to March 29, 2013, to add 3D effects. It later turned out that the real reason for the delay was to reshoot scenes with Channing Tatum. Test audiences wanted more scenes with Tatum and Dwayne Johnson, and after the success of 'The Vow' (2012) and '21 Jump Street' (2012), Tatum unexpectedly became a box office draw.
  • On November 22nd, an accident occurred that claimed the life of a crew member. Mike Haber was working on a lift that overturned, causing the man's death.
  • The film's original title was G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.
  • The Cobra Commander's helmet has been redesigned from the previous film. It now more closely resembles the Commander from the original 'G.I. Joe' series (1985–1986).
  • Dwayne Johnson's character was originally supposed to appear in the first film.
  • Snake Eyes trains with a character nicknamed Jinx, dressed in red clothing, as in the film "G.I. Joe: The Real American Hero" (1987), where this heroine first appears. And later on the mountain, she is already in the black and yellow ninja suit from the "G.I. Joe: Sigma 6" (2005–2006) series.
  • Wrestler Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is known for his catchphrase, "Do you smell what The Rock is cooking?" His character from this film is a chef in the original comics.
  • Only five actors from "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009) also appeared in the sequel. These are Lee Byung-hun, Ray Park, Arnold Vosloo, Jonathan Price, and Channing Tatum.
  • The password used by retired General Colton to one of his weapons caches is 1776. This is the year the United States Declaration of Independence was adopted.
  • The prison located in former East Germany is called Einsargen. This word is a verb, not a noun. It means 'to place in a coffin'.
  • In the prison scene, a warning sign reads: 'Baustelle! Betreten der Einfahrt verboten!' This translates to 'Construction site! Entry prohibited.' This is absurd because the prison is not a construction site.
  • The stop sign in the prison reads 'Halt' and should be read as 'Stop' (even 'Halt' itself is rarely used on signs in Germany). In German, the word 'halt' has various meanings, for example, 'he is holding something.' But the word has no connection to a stop sign for a car.
  • In the scene where the heroes leave the mountain monastery, the same footage of a red ninja falling is used for two different characters.
  • Only five actors from "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009) appeared in the sequel. These were Lee Byung-hun, Ray Park, Arnold Vosloo, Jonathan Pryce, and Channing Tatum.
